An automatic and remotely monitored hen eggs incubator

Abstract

The automatic and remotely monitored incubator for hen eggs presents a novel solution to enhance egg incubation processes in Uganda, addressing the needs of small-scale poultry farmers. This system integrates automation and remote monitoring technologies to provide precise environmental control, and real-time monitoring for improved hatch rates and productivity. Existing egg incubation methods, including brooding by hens, traditional incubation methods, and semi-automated systems, are analyzed to identify their advantages and weaknesses. Leveraging this understanding, the proposed system employs a combination of hardware components, software algorithms, and communication protocols to create an automated incubator system. Key features include temperature and humidity control mechanisms, a user-friendly interface for remote monitoring and control, and a camera module for live video streaming for tracking incubation progress. The system's geographical scope encompasses poultry farming communities in Uganda. By adhering to a two-month time scope, the project aims to deliver a functional and effective incubator system tailored to the specific needs of poultry farmers in Uganda. Overall, this research contributes to the advancement of egg incubation technology, promoting sustainable poultry farming practices and supporting food security initiatives in Uganda and beyond.
