Abstract:
Industrial training is a course module that is conducted from either within or outside the University with the intention imparting practical knowledge and skills to the students. I conducted my IT from Uwepo farm limited located on plot 3 in Buikwe district for 10 weeks from 28th Feb to 6th May 2022 the key objective of this training is to enable us as students to apply the theory learnt at the university and put into practice, get more knowledge the field so as to know how to, work with the community and be able to solve some of the challenges they are facing outside. I carried out several activities specifically on tree and plant nursery and they were nursery bed preparation, nursery management practices such as potting, weeding, watering, making and planting, mulching and feeding animals during my IT
period. I gained a tot of skills in both agricultural and animal sections. I faced some challenges such as bad weather conditions, inadequate materials to be used in the field, poor power supply. These challenges can be overcome by using a generator rather than retying on solar energy alone the farm should provide more tools on the farm. Conclusively, the training was successfully due to the cooperation and the maximum efforts maintained between internees, field supervisors and the rest of staff of Uwepo farm ltd
