Abstract:
This Industrial training report contains four chapters which give details of activities and sections that were involved in the programs at NaCCRI. They include Horticulture, cereals, legumes and root crop programs and these are summarized as follows, Chapter one this chapter gives the introduction of NaCCRI location, back ground funding, services offered, competence areas and objectives of the study. Chapter two gives detailed information got
from the activities which covers the four programs as mentioned above. In horticulture, we focused on various methods of vegetative propagation mangoes and tomato production, data collection in cabbage, application, effects of different fertilizers on cabbage i.e. organic and the inorganic type's agronomic practices and management practices, pests and disease identification on tomatoes, I mangoes and Cabbage. Under legume we covered beans production, its. agronomy, breeding, pathology and its entomology. And in cereal program we covered maize and rice agronomy breeding, pathology and entomology of both cereals. We also covered a number of activities in root crop program i.e. agronomy of both cassava and sweet potatoes, pathology and entomology of both crops as well as breeding of both crops then we closed the field study with students' presentations organized by NaCCRI staff to evaluate whether students- understood what they learnt. Chapter three summarizes the skills and knowledge I gained from the different programs, responsibilities undertaken, and influence of the attachment to my future career and correlation of the attachment with the classroom knowledge. Chapter four contains conclusion and recommendation, work plan, organization structure appendices and references.
