Abstract:
This report contains all essential details of the industrial training which I personally carried out for 10 weeks from 28th of February to 6th May 2022 at Nakabango District Farm.
Chapter one provides a full detailed report on the introduction, back ground, geographical location, and objectives of the field attachment, beneficiaries of the farm, products offered & the future prospects of the farm.
Chapter two clearly describes the activities such as nursery bed establishment and management, pests and disease control in the nursery bed, Agronomy of a banana plants, coffee, soybeans and management of cattle at the farm.
Chapter three reports on the impacts of the attachment such as pest and disease identification methods control and as well as management, I also learnt how to work and coordinate properly with farmers, communicate effectively and be able to identify their problems and challenges for example: inadequate farm tools e.g. pruning saws for coffee pruning, shortage of water making water supply to plants difficult hence creating plant stress due to insufficient water supply, Poor roads which are extremely muddy during rainy seasons halting farm activities due to in passable road links
Chapter four presents the conclusion and recommendations. In recommendations the problem of water shortage should be solved by fixing broken old pipes and purchasing new pipes to enable easy nursery bed management and plant growth inform of irrigation to apply water directly to plants, there should be provision of transport means at the farm for easy transportation of farm products such as tomatoes, coffee inform of a truck such as a lorry, the government should also increase employees at the farm more of professionals and experts to increase the work efficiency and to boost production enabling the farm increase Its working standards Other enterprises should also be introduced and put in place for example poultry, sheep, goat and snail sections to increase on the value addition of the farm, Security personnel's should be employed at the farm to provide security at the farm In order to control theft cases and restrict un approved movements at the farm
In conclusion, the industrial training module has been so useful, encouraging and very necessary for it has created and built confidence in me, in terms of practical skills and ideas which are unforgettable in both crop and animal sectors for which I was only exposed to the theoretical bit taught at campus by lecturers so this has generally made me relate it with classroom knowledge.
